Community Partnerships & Projects
Inglewood First UMC is committed to building a home for hope and healing in the heart of Inglewood. We are working with our partners to build affordable housing on church real estate and building on existing programming to support community benefit and development.
Below are some of our current community partnerships, past initiatives and plans underway!
Affordable Housing Development/Exploration Partners
Currently, the church is in discussion to build approximately 60 units of affordable housing (click for more information) on its current facility, dedicating over a half acre of land to the endeavor. We also want to house neighborhood, youth and workforce development on site.

2021 Projects
Supporting Mental Health through COVID-19 & Beyond
In partnership with California State University, Long Beach, we developed a program to destigmatize mental health support for communities of color. Inglewood residents and surrounding communities were introduced to mental health professionals, services and practices to provide tools and support to build strong mental health through the current pandemic and beyond. See more here: Get Well Mental Health Series.
Recruitment for Music & Brain Development Study
With the LA Philharmonic Orchestra and the University of Southern California Brain & Creativity Institute we helped to recruit families with children to participate in a music and brain development study. This work aims to show the importance of music education in personhood development. See more here: Music & Brain Study Orientation.
