Job 23:1-3 (Common English Bible)
1 Job answered:
2 Today my complaint is again bitter; my strength is weighed down
because of my groaning.
3 Oh, that I could know how to find him—come to his dwelling place;
Summary:
Sometimes, life can throw us off track. We keep pace when we know the steps, but every now and then a new step is required to stay on beat. Job felt discouraged and lonely when his friends didn’t understand him. He wanted to find God, to be close to God, and to speak with God face to face. Job knew that God is the one to turn to in our time of need. He wanted to go right to the Lord so he could learn how to keep pace with a new rhythm in his life.
Reflection Questions:
- How has the rhythm of your life changed recently? Is it hard to learn a new rhythm?
- How can friends encourage you when you are out of step, feel alone and God seems far away?
- What is a holy place you can go to to seek God’s direction?
