Guest Speaker: Dr. Deborah E. Bass
Ms. Deborah E. Bass is a member of Crossroads United Methodist Church in Compton, California. She returned to Compton in 2015 after living in New York City for 30 years.
She describes herself as a third generation United Methodist who is a work in progress.
She says: “God is my light and my refuge an ever presence in my life”. I am first and foremost a child of God; my earthly parents raised me and my Brother, Vincent in Compton, California. She went to NY to take a temporary assignment with the General Board of Global Ministries and remained in New York for 30 years.
Ms. Bass relocated to the West Coast to care for her beloved Mother and Brother. In addition to servings as the Lay Leader (5 years), she currently services on the Leadership Team at Crossroads and President of the churches non-profit Dignity Compton Corporation, Inc. At the general church level, she currently serves as the Chairperson of National Black Methodist for Church Renewal and the Chairperson of the Cal-Pac Conference Committee on Strengthening the Black Church for the 21st Century. She is a community organizer, and Facilitator for the Office of Community Developers, of the General Board of Global Ministries.
