Luke 16:10-11 (Common English Bible)

10 “Whoever is faithful with little is also faithful with much, and the one who is dishonest with little is also dishonest with much. 11 If you haven’t been faithful with worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches?

Summary:

Based on the book by Dr. Candace M. Lewis and Dr. Rodney T. Smothers, Resurgence is a movement toward renewal, revival and recovery of relevance in ministry. This month, we explore our calling to surge forward as followers of Jesus and in ministry with our community.

To start a resurgence, be faithful with what you got! When we are wasteful, we become irrelevant, but when we are generous God blesses us with relevance. As we are faithful with what we have, God trusts us to be faithful with more. When we are good stewards of what we have now, God is generous with us, trusting us to be generous with others. Resurgence is rooted in relevance through generosity.

Reflection Questions:

  1. True wealth comes from generosity. Who do you remember being generous with their time, talent or money with you?
  2. Is it true that those who are “faithful with little” can be trusted to be faithful with much?
  3. How has God been generous toward you? How is calling us to be generous as Christ’s church?
