Scripture: Psalm 100 (Common English Bible)
Shout triumphantly to the Lord, all the earth!
2 Serve the Lord with celebration!
Come before him with shouts of joy!
3 Know that the Lord is God—
he made us; we belong to him.[a]
We are his people,
the sheep of his own pasture.
4 Enter his gates with thanks;
enter his courtyards with praise!
Thank him! Bless his name!
5 Because the Lord is good,
his loyal love lasts forever;
his faithfulness lasts generation after generation.
Summary:
Through the season of Lent, we will walk with Jesus through the wilderness as God prepares us the journey ahead. The Negro Spiritual, “Wade in the Water,” reminds us that our journey to wholeness and freedom is not easy, but God is with us. Our Lenten journey is not supposed to be easy, but through it, God builds in us new faith, new love, new hope and renewed mission in Jesus’ name!
We worship with joy because through worship we are reminded that God made us, we belong to God and we are God’s people. The world is a wilderness, yet because of God, we worship with joy.
