Isaiah 55:6-9 (Common English Bible)
6 Seek the Lord when he can still be found;
call him while he is yet near.
7 Let the wicked abandon their ways
and the sinful their schemes.
Let them return to the Lord so that he may have mercy on them,
to our God because he is generous with forgiveness.
8 My plans aren’t your plans,
nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord.
9 Just as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways, and my plans than your plans.
Summary:
We continue the Lenten Season with our worship series “No Ordinary Love.” During this season, we journey with Jesus for his forty days of fasting and prayer in the wilderness, heeding the call to return to God with all our hearts. As we return, we find power to love God, ourselves and others.
God’s plan for our lives is rooted in God’s love for all creation. When we set aside our plans and seek out God’s plan, we discover purpose, joy and peace. In Lent, the fasts we take help us rediscover God’s will for our lives. When it gets difficult to see them through, don’t give up, God will give you strength!
Reflection Questions:
- How has your fast this Lent gone so far? Has it been easy? difficult?
- What have you learned about yourself this Lenten season?
- What have you learned about God this Lenten season?
- What do you need God’s strength to get you through right now?
