Last Sunday in worship, we were reminded to “be humble” and listen to Jesus when he says, “Come to me, all you who are struggling hard and carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). In difficult times, there is temptation to overwork ourselves to the point of exhaustion and forfeit the quiet times we need to rest. In those quiet spaces, we learn to pack light, let our “souls speak” and hear God speak to us.
Inspired by the words of Jesus and the lyrics of hip-hop artist Kendrick Lamar, our July sermon series will continue to explore what it means to “Be Humble”in our relationships with God and others. On the surface, it would seem that humility is a sign of weakness, but in our journeys of faith, it is an expression of strength that transforms lives and communities rooted in God’s love.
Sit down. Be humble. Join us for worship every Sunday in July at 10:00 am at Inglewood First United Methodist Church!
