Sunday, July 2 | Holy Communion Sunday | Rev. Carolyn Habersham

Rev. Carolyn Habersham was ordained an Itinerant Deacon in the African Methodist Episcopal Church in August, 1996, and ordained an Itinerant Elder in August, 1998.  Prior to her retirement from the pastoral ministry in 2015 Rev. Habersham pastored churches in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Mississippi, Georgia, and Louisiana. Rev. Habersham completed the Drug/Alcohol Studies and Drug/Alcohol Counseling Program at UCLA. She holds a Master of Arts from Claremont School of Theology in Pastoral Care and the Master of Divinity from Turner Theological Seminary at the Interdenominational Center in Atlanta, GA with emphasis in Pastoral Care. 

Rev. Habersham is currently the Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Los Angeles and President of the Southern California Chapter of the National Black Presbyterian Caucus. at Long Beach Memorial Hospital and serves in Ministry at First Presbyterian Church in Inglewood, California. Rev. Habersham is mother of 1 Son, Sterling, 1 daughter in law, April and 3 grandsons, Tobias, Allan and Ian.


Sunday, July 9 | Phil Burns

As the leader of The Arroyo Group, a 45-year-old planning and urban design firm, Philip Burns brings the firm’s resources to the Congregational Land Committee to analyze and write zoning, develop entitlement strategies, build consensus with community leaders and neighbors, and facilitate dialogues within churches. Philip has prepared Housing Elements, transit-oriented development plans, zoning ordinances and urban design plans for Metro and cities across Southern California. Philip served as a planning trainer in the Peace Corps in Guatemala, and he has been an elder and children’s ministry director in the Presbyterian Church (USA). 


Sundays, July 16 & 23 | Minister Diane Ujiiye

Minister Diane Ujiiye is Co-Director of Asian and Pacific Islander Rise (API RISE). her background includes over twenty years of working in the fields of substance abuse, mental health, HIV/AIDS, and gang intervention, in multi-ethnic LA County. She has conducted civil rights and public policy advocacy for Asian Americans and Native Hawaiians/Pacific Islanders in California, resulting in the successful passage of state legislation. She serves as board president for Healing Urban Barrios, a gang intervention and re-entry program in East Los Angeles. Diane is currently building solidarity with the Black community in Los Angeles with mostly formerly incarcerated API’s and Blacks.  She holds a Master of Divinity degree from Fuller Theological Seminary.
